# My AI assistant (like ChatGPT) acted on it

It may have done things you didn't ask for. These steps stop it, then help you undo what it did.

1. ### Take away its access.

Open the assistant's settings and find its connected apps, like your email or calendar. Disconnect the ones it used, so it can't do more. Also delete anything new in its memory or saved instructions. Not sure how? Ask someone you trust to help.

2. ### Did it pay or send money?

Look in your bank or payment app now. If it did, call them on the number on your card or in the app.

   Done: false
3. ### Work account or work device?

Tell IT now: they can lock it and check what was reached.

   Done: false
4. ### Check what it did, and undo what you can.

Look in the assistant's history and in the apps it used: sent emails, shared files, payments, settings. Sent emails or files to people? Tell them not to act on them. Take a screenshot of the message that tricked it, then delete it, so it can't act on it again.

   Done: false
5. ### Change any password it could see.

   Start with your email.

   Done: false
6. ### Report it.

Report it to your police or your country's fraud reporting service, even if you lost nothing. Reports help stop the same scam reaching others. Add your screenshot of the message, if you took one.

#### Who to contact

- **Your bank** The number on your card or in the app
- **Your IT team**
- **Your police or fraud reporting service** In the US: ReportFraud.ftc.gov

Never a number from the message.

#### Keep as proof

Before you delete anything: a screenshot of the message, the number or name it came from, and any receipts.

## From now on

- ### Watch for the next message or call.

Scammers often come back with a more convincing one, sometimes pretending to be your bank or the police. Check it here before you act.
