# I only opened the link

Opening a link is rarely the danger. If you didn't type or download anything, this is all you need.

1. ### Install your updates.

   Opening a link on its own rarely does harm on an up-to-date phone or computer; the danger is what you type or download. Install any updates your phone or computer offers. If it downloaded something, see “I installed something”.

   Report it to your police or your country's fraud reporting service, even if you lost nothing. Reports help stop the same scam reaching others. Add your screenshot of the message, if you took one.
