## What it looks like

An email

From to me

MetaMask: Your wallet will be suspended. Verify your recovery phrase: https://metamask-verify.example

A message from “support”, after you asked for help in a public chat

I'm from the wallet's support team. Share your screen and I'll fix your stuck transaction.

Examples. The names and amounts change; the shape doesn't.

## How to spot one

1. **Anyone who asks for your recovery phrase** (the secret words). With it, they can empty the wallet. No real company asks for it.
2. **A claim, an airdrop or a mint that needs you to connect and sign.** Approving can give them permission to take your tokens.
3. **“Support” that contacts you first.**
4. **A countdown:** ends in minutes, only the first 500 wallets.
5. **A wallet app or browser add-on from a link,** not from your phone's app store or the wallet's own website.

## What to do

1. **Don't connect your wallet or sign anything from a link in a message.** Approving or signing can empty your wallet.
2. **Never type your recovery phrase into a website.**
3. **Go to a project through its official website,** found yourself, not through a link someone sent.
4. **Still not sure?** [Check the message](https://www.urlert.com/index.md). We open its link on a phone and a computer, not yours, and tell you what it is.

### Already connected, approved, or typed your recovery phrase?

- **Move what's left to a new wallet now.** Anyone with your recovery phrase, or an approval, can empty it.
