I gave my card details

Act now: the sooner your bank knows, the sooner it can block the card.

  1. Call your bank now.

Use the number on the back of your card or in your bank's app, not one from the message. Ask them to block the card and send a new one.

  2. Check your statement.

Tell the bank about every payment you don't recognize, even small ones. Scammers often test a card with a small payment first.

  3. Report it.

Tell your card's bank it was fraud when you call them, and report it to your police or your country's fraud reporting service, even if you lost nothing. Reports help stop the same scam reaching others. Add your screenshot of the message, if you took one.

From now on

  • Don't trust calls that say they're your bank.

Hang up and call the number on your card. Your bank will never ask you to move money or read out a code.

  • Watch for the next message or call.

Scammers often come back with a more convincing one, sometimes pretending to be your bank or the police. Check it here before you act.
