I sent money
Act now: the sooner your bank knows, the better the chance of stopping it.
Call your bank or payment app now.
Use the number on your card or in the app, not one from the message. Say it was a scam payment: ask them to stop or recall it and open a fraud claim. Have the date, the amount and who you paid ready.
Paid with a gift card or crypto?
Contact the gift card company, or the app or exchange you sent the crypto from, with the receipt. It's often hard to get back, so do it today.
Keep everything.
Screenshots of the messages and the numbers or names they used, and receipts if you paid. Your bank and the police will ask for them.
Report it.
Report it to your police or your country's fraud reporting service, even if you lost nothing. Reports help stop the same scam reaching others. Add your screenshot of the message, if you took one.
From now on
Ignore offers to get your money back.
Anyone who promises to recover it for a fee is running another scam.
Watch for the next message or call.
Scammers often come back with a more convincing one, sometimes pretending to be your bank or the police. Check it here before you act.
